Ski clothing is one of the most important things to bring on a ski trip.
Having the proper clothing will help to determine your level of comfort
while playing in the snow and moving down the different slopes. Most ski
clothing is made of synthetic fabrics which are custom-made to help movement,
keep you warm, being water resistant, and allowing your body room to breathe.
The first thing to keep in mind is knowing which layers of clothing are
going to help you move the best and keep you at a comfortable temperature
at the same time. There are several companies who now make specific ski
socks, jackets, boots, etc. There should be at least three layers of clothing
that you wear when you go skiing. The first layer should be thermal underwear.
Long Johns worn under any type of ski suit will help your body to stay
warm in the mountain air. The second layer should consist of types of clothing
that will both absorb and transport moisture in order to keep the temperature
consistent and also to not let snow get trapped in your clothing. Inside
linings and polar fleeces with brushed cotton lining are both good. The
third layer has several options. One of the best types of ski clothing
to buy is the ski suit. This is a one piece overall. Some ski suits also
come with an extra jacket which can be used without the entire suit. Gloves
and mittens should also be part of your ski outfit. It is best to wear
mittens underneath gloves. The gloves should be thermally insulated. There
are also silk liners available for extra protection for your hands. Another
type of clothing is a ski jacket. These are usually light and have a jacket
inside of a larger jacket. It is important that the outer layer is made
of polyester, and is water, wind, and snow resistant.
Last, it is important to protect your head. The proper hat and sunglasses
or goggles are essential. Because the altitude is so high on mountains,
the sun may often get in the way making it hard to see and also could cause
sunburn. The hat should not only be used for warmth, but also be the right
material to absorb anything that is wet.
By layering, being prepared, and knowing the proper ski clothing to bring,
your ski trip can not only be fun but also comfortable.
